Have you ever heard the old saying, “We never miss something until it is taken away”?
This winter, I picked up a new indoor sport, “Pickleball”. Last week during a rather intense game, I tripped while flying backwards and slammed my hip and buttocks into the floor. It hurt.
I expected to find a bruise the next day, but was surprised there was no bruise and only a dull amount of discomfort. I credit dodging the bruise and extreme pain from the fall to the magnetic mattress pad and sleep system I sleep on every night. The magnetic energy increases my circulation, flexibility and allows me to play the many athletic sports that I enjoy without pain, discomfort and soreness!
This past Saturday, I was away from home and the sleep system on my bed. I forgot about the fall until I woke up the next morning with an annoying pain and stiffness in my left hip ! Ouch. I found it uncomfortable to sit through a church service.
After about 4 hours of this annoying pain, I remembered I had a back flex magnet in my car that I carried around for emergencies. I put that over the (would be) bruised area and the pain went away in about 30 minutes.
I was so thankful for finding the magnet in my car and even more thankful for having the sleep system on my bed which allows me the flexibility and circulation I need to continue the sports that I so dearly love to play.

Through Mark’s research, he learned that Dr. Niels Finsen was awarded the Nobel Prize for treating patients with arc light and sunshine (UVB) in 1903. It was several months later, fall of 2004 that I read an article about rickets for inner city children and the ‘sunlight’ came through. Spend more time in ac, the less exposure to sunshine. I begin to research vitamin D and sunshine. The internet was full of all kinds of articles on Vitamin D. I did not know what to believe. Willing to try anything because of the constant pain, I begin to take 2000 IU per day on November 4, 2004. This was an amount that the FDA said was a safe upper limit. However, I had read on one of the multiple sclerosis websites that they thought that 4000 IU per day was okay because people on the equator consistently got about 10,000 IU per day from sun exposure.
There was an immediate response in my system as the next day I did not get chilled from exposure to cold air. This was unusual for me. I continued to increase the amount that I took each day until at above 4000 IU per day, I did not see any more improvement in joint or muscle pain. At that level the entire joint and muscle pain that had plagued me for years was gone except for lumbar region pain. I had regained my original height of 6 feet from a height of 5 feet 11 inches; a general indication of improved spine health. I continued this level until the spring of 2005 when during my annual physical I convinced my doctor that I had been deficient in vitamin D. We found my serum 25(OH)D was at 54 ng/ml or normal after six months of supplementation. I have reduced my supplementation of vitamin D through the summer to 2000 IU per day and plan to increase back to 4000 IU per day during the winter.
As my spine got healthier it actually lead to more pain as all of the nerve roots tried to find new homes. This took about six months as my pain level reduced to the point in September 2005 to where I am off of all pain meds. It looks like I have successfully avoided more back surgeries. I now vary in height between 6’ and 6’-1”.
In February 2005 I discovered a website sponsored by the vitamin D Council with Dr. John Cannell as its Director. This website allowed me to look at the chronic diseases that were correlated to vitamin D deficiency and then link directly to the medical research abstracts. I was absolutely amazed. I will repeat my daughters’ statement, “a correlation does not mean causation.” I took enough of the abstracts to my doctor to convince him that there was a problem in the general population with vitamin D deficiency.
So where are we now? There is a lot of excitement in all of the areas of chronic disease and cancer and their correlation to vitamin D. Please take the time to help guide your doctor in the new research on vitamin D. As there is not much of a profit advantage in treating disease with sunshine, it will take a long time for this to become general knowledge. Please become proactive in helping the medical community to become educated and promote more research through contact with your local US Representative.
How long have we been ignoring the facts? Dr. Niels Finsen was awarded the Nobel Prize for treating patients with arc light and sunshine (UVB) in 1903.
Author’s Note: I originally wrote this article in the fall of 2005. Since that time my health has continued to improve with no more medical procedures and no meds. My height has stabilized at about 6’-2”. I have also gotten off of a CPAP for sleep apnea. My PCP tells me I now have the health of a 25 year old and that is not bad for a 55 year old man. There has been much new research in the area of vitamin D3 and you should spend time at the Vitamin D Council website to see what is new. Have you ever heard, “Passing a kidney stone is more painful than having a baby” ?
If you are a man, your risk for kidney stones is four times greater than if you are a woman. And if you live in the southeastern part of the U.S., also referred to as the “Kidney Stone Belt,” your risk is even greater due to higher rates of dehydration.

Roughly, one million Americans develop kidney stones each year. Once you have had one kidney stone attack, your chance of recurrence is about 70 to 80 percent.
Records of kidney stones can be found since the beginning of civilization. Lithotomy, a surgical procedure for removing stones, is one of the earliest known surgical procedures. In fact, a caution about the dangers of surgically removing stones is even found in the text of the Hippocratic Oath.
Kidney stones can range in size from a grain of sand to larger than a golf ball. If a stone fails to pass, permanent damage to your urinary tract can result.
The number of cases of adult kidney stones appears to be on the rise, most likely as a result of modern diets. And now, kidney stones are being seen in children in unprecedented numbers … just one more sad result of our modern dietary habits.
Fortunately, 90 to 95 percent of kidney stones pass within a number of days or weeks, without any intervention at all. And, even better news — the best remedy is also the best prevention, and also happens to be the least expensive: simply drink more water.

I stayed with my friend for 5 days and drove him to the final appointment … I could “feel” his pain.
For the 5 days of this ordeal, Jim was miserable, felt feverous, nauseated and constantly had the urge to eliminate. I said to myself, “There has to be a better and more humane way to solve this problem !
Bingo! This past Autumn of 2011, my friend, Peter, came up with the same [kidney stone] problem and was presented with the same solution! After 2 weeks of suffering and waiting for the stone to exit his body, Peter found an alternative cure on the internet !
The suggested method of passing the stone (guaranteed to work within less than 12 hours) seemed a little far fetched, but by now Peter was ready to try anything to avoid the surgery. He tried the “Googled” theory and voila! After 2 weeks of agony, within 5 hours, the stone popped out during the night !!!
Peter called me the next day and said, “You are not going to believe this, but the stone is gone!” I was so happy for him and awaited an opportunity to share this “remedy” with another friend !
Presto! My opportunity arrived again last week. On December 26th one of my “buddies” ended up in the emergency room with abdominal and chest pains, thinking he was having a heart attack. After several tests, the medical staff informed him of his kidney stone, told him to go home, drink plenty of water and take the pain pills. “If the stone does not pass in 2 days, come back and we will take more drastic measures to help you pass it … but if you can pass it on your own, you will be much better off .”
“Buddie” called me the next day to tell me about his hospital ordeal. I told him that I knew a way to help him pass the stone, and his response was, “My doctor has everything under control”. (Oh, and btw, I hear this response a lot from my family as well as 5% of the people who visit my office … and I thank God that this number is “low”
After hearing Buddie, moan and groan about this pain for two days, I called him that night and said, “Get a pen and piece of paper and write this formula down. If you want to pass your stone quickly, do this remedy!!! ”
He, being of a “traditional” mindset, replied, “I wrote it down; I’ll think about it and if I am not better by the morning, I will call my doctor for the next step”. I told him about my friend’s experience of 2008 and what the next step might be.
The next morning, Buddie went to the grocery store and bought supplies for “the kidney stone flush” ![]()

Common Causes for Kidney Stones:
The main cause of kidney stones is dehydration, caused from excess caffeine and lack of filtered water.
During our programs at The STOP Clinic, we talk a lot about the importance of keeping our blood pH more alkaline rather than acidic. Kidney stones can form when the urine is highly acidic or highly alkaline.
Sometimes the underlying cause of a kidney stone is a metabolic disorder or kidney disease.
Certain drugs may create an environment favorable to stone formation. Examples of such drugs are: Lasix (furosemide), Topomax (topiramate), and Xenical, among others.
Common Symptoms of Kidney Stones:
You won’t know you have a stone until it moves into the ureter — the tube connecting your kidney and your bladder.
Common symptoms include:
Pain in your side and back, below your ribs
Episodes of pain lasting 20 to 60 minutes, of varying intensity
Pain “waves” radiating from your side and back, to your lower abdomen and groin
Bloody, cloudy or foul-smelling urine
Pain with urination
Nausea and vomiting
“Urgency” (persistent urge to urinate)
Fever and chills (indicates an infection is also present)
The pain is a result of distention of the tissues above the stone, since it is blocking the passage of urine, rather than from the pressure of the stone itself.
Common Causes for Kidney Stones that are Avoidable:
(Remember our motto: “An ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Cure!”)
Lack of filtered water is the number one risk factor for kidney stones! If you aren’t drinking enough, your urine will simply have higher concentrations of substances that can form stones. Urine should be a light yellow. Waiting until you feel thirsty is often too late. Thirst usually signifies dehydration. Increase your water intake during periods of high activity and visiting warmer climates.
A diet high in sugar can set you up for stones. Sugar upsets the mineral relationships in your body by interfering with calcium and magnesium absorption. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup (found in most processed foods) lead to obesity and diabetes. Children as young as age 5 or 6 are now turning up with kidney stones.
A 1999 South African study found that drinking soda exacerbates conditions in the urine that lead to formation of calcium oxalate kidney stone problems.
Caffeine, during a study, was given to people with a history of kidney stones. After testing their urine, an elevated amount of calcium in the urine was found, putting them at a higher risk for kidney stones. (My observations show, those clients who consume a large amount of caffeine usually consume very little or no water, leading to dehydration as well as contributing to a more acidic blood pH.)
Diets high in processed salt are also bad news. Salt increases the amount of calcium and oxalate in your urine. All processed foods are extremely high in salt. Examples are salty chips, French fries, sandwich meats, canned foods, soups, and sports drinks like Gatorade (which are now sold in child-friendly juice boxes). The over consumption of processed foods is the primary cause of increased kidney stones in children today.
Childhood obesity and kidney stones has a strong connection. Children are notorious for not drinking enough water, adding to the problem.
High blood pressure doubles your risk for kidney stones.
Digestive problems (such as indigestion and acid reflux) also increase your risk. Changes in the digestive process affect your absorption of calcium and other minerals. (This refers back to my theory of the importance of keeping the blood PH alkaline rather than acidic.)
Consumption of non-fermented soy can predispose you to developing kidney stones due to high levels of oxalate present in many varieties of soybeans.
Being sedentary for long periods of time may contribute to kidney stones. Limited activity can cause your bones to release more calcium.
There are several medical procedures and surgical techniques that can be used to treat kidney stones, but the risks are high enough that physicians typically shy away from them, unless there’s no other choice. This is actually a good thing, considering the multitude of problems American patients face due to medical errors.
It remains interesting to me, Leslie Lyon, that the food one eats for the purpose of strengthening the immune system (as well as preventing popular diseases such as cancer, heart disease, obesity, depression, recto focus, etc. ), still proves true in preventing other health problems, solved by a healthy diet.

Formula for Passing a Kidney Stone, Quickly:
Within the first 2 hours:
Drink one six-pack of regular Coke.
(Do not drink diet Drinks for any reason, under any circumstance! )
Within the next 2 hours:
Eat 8 ounces of fresh, raw Asparagus.
Drink one gallon of filtered, distilled water.
Within 12 hours or LESS, the stone should pass.

The most disturbing vaccination (to me) now is the (suggested) vaccination for girls and boys from the ages of 12 to 25 to prevent cancer. … and everyone knows, if the big Pharma buys the Politicians’ vote (as they are known to do), the vaccinations could become mandatory.

- Eat whole foods that are “alive” rather than processed.
- Drink clean, filtered water, daily. (e.g., If you weigh 128 pounds, drink 64 ounces daily; 200 pounds, 100 ounces).
- Avoid processed foods.
- Avoid genetically modified foods.
- Avoid any animal product given hormones and antibiotics.
- Sleep 8 to 9 hours each night. (This is when your body relaxes and goes into a healing cycle.)
- Get plenty of Vitamin D, sunshine !
- Wash your hands.
- Keep your fingers out of your mouth.
- Do not “eat” boogers or ear wax (or touch a door handle, which causes others to “eat” them).

Over the past 2 decades, I have observed negative thoughts affecting people’s health. Lately, many people are asking me to teach them how to change their negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Within less than 2 weeks, they see miraculous changes in their health and personal lives !
Connie Domino teaches in her book, The Law of Forgiveness, “Negative thoughts are energy blockers which prevent us from having the wonderful and abundant life we deserve! I have taught affirmations and Connie’s energy prayer with many of you to help you have a more positive life filled with great health and energy.
Today, I am asking you to pray “The Forgiveness Prayer” for the leaders of our country. It makes no difference whether you are a democrat, republican, or with the tea party. There are about 90% of our leaders who chose to be in office so they could make a difference and protect our world … and sadly, there are about 10% of those leaders who wanted to be elected for reasons of greed. The 10% who are passing the laws without concern for our well-being, environment, survival of the planet and the future of our children … can cause the ruin of our world. They live in the present and are not considering the harm their decisions make on our future.
So, please, pray The Prayer of Forgiveness for these leaders of our country at least 3 times a day. You don’t have to know them or see their faces in your mind. Just visualize them as a group of people sitting together, talking, debating and making decisions. Prayer the prayer for them so their negativity can change and our world can be a better place for our families and future.
If we pray as a mass, the energy we send out to the Universe can be overwhelming for them. If you hear or see something on the news within the next 2 weeks, you can feel good about yourself and know that you helped make a difference.

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner
every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she
had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening
so long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely
burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if
anyone noticed!
Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask
me how my day was at school. I don’t remember what I told him that
night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that
ugly burned biscuit. He ate every bite of that thing… never made a
face nor uttered a word about it!
When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom
apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I’ll never forget
what he said, “Honey, I love burned biscuits every now and then.”
Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if
he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms
and said, “Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she’s real
tired. And besides – a little burned biscuit never hurt anyone!”
As I’ve grown older, I’ve thought about that many times. Life is full
of imperfect things and imperfect people. I’m not the best at hardly
anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like
everyone else. But what I’ve learned over the years is that learning
to accept each others faults and choosing to celebrate each others
differences – is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy,
growing, and lasting relationship.
And that’s my prayer for you today … that you will learn to take the
good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the
feet of God. Because in the end, He’s the only One who will be able
to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn’t a deal-breaker!
We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is
the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or
friendship!
“Don’t put the key to your happiness in the pocket of someone else — keep
it in your own.”
So, please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burned one will do just fine.
Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind
of battle.

Unlike plants you may grow in your garden, this “miracle” plant is a form of blue-green algae that springs from warm, fresh water bodies.
Spirulina vs Chlorella — Similarities and Differences
Chlorella is another form of algae that is sometimes confused with spirulina. The fundamental difference between spirulina and chlorella is that spirulina is many thousands of years older and does not possess the hard cell wall that makes chlorella closer to being a plant than algae.
Chlorella is an excellent way to detoxify your body from mercury, which most of you are contaminated with if you’ve ever had dental fillings, received a vaccine, used certain types of cookware or eaten fish. Spirulina simply is unable to remove heavy metals like chlorella as it lacks a cell membrane.
Chlorella has also been proven to be of benefit to those who suffer from degenerative disease. This report, however, will focus on the specific benefits that can be attributed to spirulina in particular.
How Spirulina Helped Save Millions from Arsenic Poisoning
Most of us take clean, healthy drinking water for granted. Unfortunately, in some countries like Bangladesh, it is a luxury. An Immune-System Power-Boost — Spirulina’s Impact on Candida and AIDS
According to a study done by the Department of Aquataculture in Taiwan, spirulina shows significant immune-boosting properties. Researchers exposed white shrimp to seawater containing a hot-water extract of spirulina before transferring them to seawater with a pH level of 6.8. The control group was not exposed to spirulina.
The shrimp exposed to the spirulina seawater showed a faster and more promising recovery rate to the high levels of pH than those not given the dose of spirulina first.

Help to Normalize Cholesterol Naturally
Are you on a cholesterol medication? Tens of millions of people take cholesterol-lowering medications every day and, according to “experts”, millions more should be taking them, including children! Statin drugs are responsible for a host of unwanted and dangerous side effects including:

Those with sickle-cell anemia or congenital heart defects are at greater risk for a condition called brain ischemia or cerebral ischemia. Brain ischemia refers to a lack of blood flow to your brain, which causes oxygen deprivation and can lead to a stroke. Just ten seconds of interrupted blood flow to your brain can cause unconsciousness and lead to serious health consequences.
In a study done by Dr. Andhra Pradesh of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology in India, it was found that a dosage of 180mg of spirulina had a protective effect on the brain and nervous system of rats exposed to high amounts of free radicals, compared to rats not given the spirulina before the experiment. This lab test shows the promising effect of spirulina on stroke prevention.
Helps Reduce Cancer Risk
Cancer is the leading killer of adult Americans under 70 and in the case of this frightening disease, prevention is worth much more than a pound of cure. It could literally save your life.
My first recommendation in cutting your cancer risk is to eliminate sugar/fructose, grains, and processed foods from your diet. Additives such as fructose feed cancer cells and help them to thrive. I also recommend healthy sun exposure, which will boost your levels of natural vitamin D and help cut your cancer risk by half!
But spirulina may have potential benefits here as well. According to a study done in China, selenium-infused spirulina inhibited the growth of MCF-7 breast cancer cells.
Healthy for Vegetarians — More Protein than Red Meat
When you think of protein, you probably imagine sitting down to a meal of organic eggs or grass-fed beef or maybe even drinking a whey protein shake.
If you’re a vegetarian, you may turn to plant-protein sources such as nuts, beans, lentils and soy products. Unfortunately, soy is not the health food it claims to be. None of the above-mentioned sources of protein compare to the protein punch delivered by spirulina. Spirulina is 65-71 percent complete protein compared to beef, which is only 22 percent, and lentils, which is only 26 percent.
In addition to being protein-rich, spirulina is an excellent source of vital amino acids and minerals easily assimilated by your body. You would need to consume only two tablespoons of spirulina as a protein substitute for a meal.
